Tales of Uniqueness: An HGS OSS April Huddle

6 May 2024

As we march onto another chapter of 2024, an exciting huddle awaits HGS OSS teams with this month’s theme “Inkspiration!” where it commemorates the Philippines’ Literature month. HGS OSS celebrates the wonderful world of art in its many forms. Our teams enjoyed a whirlwind of events as the HGS OSS stage featured hosts, fun games and spectacular performances.

Commemorating the Creatives

The Philippines is the home of many humble writers, many of which used their influences to make an everlasting impression on the country’s history. It is certainly fitting to this month’s theme “Inkspiration” where it celebrates the connection of people not just through stories but also forms of art in the Philippines. Whether you are a poet, singer, dancer, or painter, your creativity shines through and becomes an inspiration to the people around you.

Our Vice President of Operations Mr. Paul Butalid shares his thoughts on this month’s theme; he remarked on the country’s national literary geniuses that shaped today’s minds. “This theme serves as a nod to one of the mediums used by our famous authors in creating their masterpieces, like our National Hero, Jose Rizal, who used ink to write his poems and stories, and to this day it’s still a national treasure.”  he states, comparing these great thinkers to the talented teams at HGS OSS

Creatives around HGS OSS teams

He calls for everyone to release their inhibitions and express themselves this Literature Month. Much like how a book is without its pages, this huddle wouldn’t be complete without the active participation of each team member in HGS OSS sites.

Expressive Echoes winners

This huddle was an amazing opportunity for hidden talents to rise, and we were lucky to be graced with many performances from all HGS OSS sites. But amongst all the stars that graced the HGS OSS huddle stages, only a few had shined the brightest.

So, let’s give it up for these outstanding team members!

Expressiveness in Many Forms

While we are commemorating the month of April as the Philippine Literature month, we also celebrated the minds that made a massive impact in the Philippine’s literary art scene. HGS OSS is a powerhouse of talents as different performances graced the sites. From Manila to Cebu to the Work-From-Home teams. This huddle fully encourages team members to come out of their shells and perform their hearts out.

The crowds from each respective site had their unique way of celebrating this month’s huddle. For our teams at 25/7, they started with an icebreaker on who inspires them as Literature is about inspiration and the creative exhale that follows. Some of our team members said that their inspiration comes from their families, significant others, and personal dreams.

The performances continue over to 24/7 teams with amazing spoken poetry renditions of famous songs such as Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me like You do” and Moonstar88’s “Migraine. Aside from these performances, there are other poetic entries about personal woes that everyone in the crowd can surely relate to.

Amazing Talents taking over the stage

After enticing the crowd with words of expression, they moved on to play an exciting storytelling game where the players must create a story out of what the players say, but the catch is, the players only have 10 words, and they must not include the letter “O” in their sentence! It is quite a challenge to take, and in the end an interesting story came out of the works!

More exciting events are in store for the teams in The Curve as more singers take the stage to serenade the crowd. There are also exciting games that keep the crowd on their toes as teams play the classic “Pass the Message” game where 2 groups with a designated leader reads a passage and then passes it to the next person, the last person in the lineup must say the message that the leader had read in the beginning. This surely tested the team’s memory and listening skills, but eventually one team came up on top.

The Cebu teams stepped in on the fun as they began their huddle with a round of trivia games lined with this month’s theme, from famous poets to national writers, the teams showed off their knowledge on specific trivia questions. But aside from this, they also showcased their talents when the poets took the stage and wowed the crowd with their expressive works!

Of course, the Work-from-home teams hopped in on the fun with their virtual huddle, they started the event with more poem readings to get the crowd going then eventually moving onto intense trivia games where the hosts show silhouettes of famous Filipino writers, and the team members must guess the book or their work. It was a game that racked everyone’s brains, but it ultimately showed the real bookworms in the WFH teams.

New Chapter for a New Month

April came and went, and with this month came many written memories to be remembered in the long run. We humbly thank everyone for joining in on the fun this huddle, we would also like to thank the amazing performers who took the step in the huddle stage and gave the crowd a great time with the talents that you graced the stage with. This next month’s huddle is going to be one for the books as we enter the festive month of May!
